Skanska joins the Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT) climate initiative
STERSUND, Sweden, June 10, 2021 / PRNewswire / – Skanska has joined the Leadership Group for Industry Transition (LeadIT) climate initiative, which brings together leading countries and companies committed to taking action to achieve the Paris Agreement. LeadIT was initiated by the governments of Sweden and India at the United Nations Climate Action Summit in September 2019 and is supported by the World Economic Forum. Other members of the company include Vattenfall, ThyssenKrupp, Hybrit, DSM, Volvo, Heathrow Airport, Scania and LKAB.

We want to take vigorous action in this transition and have reduced our own carbon footprint by 40% since 2015. Skanska supports the Paris Agreement and aims to achieve net zero carbon emissions across its entire value chain by 2045. This target also includes suppliers, contractors and end users of buildings constructed by Skanska .

Significant emissions come from fuel and materials such as concrete, steel and asphalt, as well as the energy required to run buildings during their lifetime. aiming to become climate neutral, we are working with partners to stimulate development and innovation.
