NOLAxNOLA livestream presents Irma Thomas, Dr. John, Revivalists, Tank & Bangas, Galactic | Music

NOLAxNOLA is hosting an online encore this weekend with some of New Orleans’ biggest names in music.

In October, three dozen local clubs partnered with marketing agency New Orleans & Company to present NOLAxNOLA, a series of signature shows during what would have been the New Orleans Jazz & Heritage Festival.

On Friday and Saturday (November 19 and 20) from 8 p.m. Central time, four hours of highlights from these shows will air on NOLAxNOLA.com.

Featured artists include Irma Thomas, the Revivalists, Tank and the Bangas, Galactic, Anders Osborne, Big Sam’s Funky Nation, Dumpstaphunk, Big Freedia, Preservation Hall Jazz Band, Rebirth Brass Band, Soul Rebels and Jon Cleary, as well as ‘a celebration of the late Dr John with never-before-seen footage.

The livestream is free to watch. It is produced in conjunction with Fandiem.com, a website that links charitable giving to VIP fan experiences.

By donating through the NOLAxNOLA page on Fandiem, fans are entered to win a series of New Orleans music-related prizes.

These prices include tickets to each show at Tipitina’s, Howlin ‘Wolf, House of Blues and Fillmore, the “Midnight Preserves” series from Maple Leaf Bar and Preservation Hall during the 2022 Jazz Fest. The “Frenchmen Street Golden Ticket for Four” gives access to the dba, the Blue Nile, the Dragon’s Den and the House during the Jazz Fest.

The livestream is an indication that the producers of NOLAx NOLA intend to keep their promise to make it an ongoing rather than a one-time initiative.

Sig Greenebaum, the former director of Voodoo Music + Arts Experience, came up with the name NOLAxNOLA – pronounced “NOLA by NOLA”, a play about Austin’s huge South by Southwest music conference – and the concept as a means to it. ” help concert halls and, by extension, musicians recoup some of the much-needed income lost by the cancellation of the 2021 Jazz Festival.

Greenebaum pitched the idea to New Orleans & Company CEO Stephen Perry, who quickly saw the potential. Thus, NOLAxNOLA lives on the site of New Orleans & Company, NewOrleans.com.

New Orleans & Company planned to spend more than $ 2 million to advertise NOLAxNOLA locally and nationally, reallocating some of the money originally intended for marketing the canceled Jazz Fest.

Television and / or radio commercials featuring NOLAxNOLA have aired in Chicago, Atlanta, Memphis, Dallas, Houston, Little Rock, Pensacola / Mobile, Monroe and elsewhere. The local marketing campaign included full-page newspaper ads, electronic billboards and posters.

Focusing on clubs and promoting them directly is “a radical change” for New Orleans & Company, Perry said in October. The NOLAxNOLA campaign “will help get people to the clubs and deliver that part of New Orleans that exists nowhere but here.”

Perry and Greenebaum believe it may be an annual, stand-alone fall festival, which will become a major attraction.

In its first year, approximately 35 participating clubs presented a total of approximately 200 shows.

Going forward, New Orleans & Company will market New Orleans concert halls year round on its website. Perry envisions a platform with profiles, photos and footage highlighting clubs and musicians. Millions of visitors to NewOrleans.com can then purchase a concert ticket as easily as a dinner reservation.
