Meadery puts time in the spotlight as part of Sky’s SME support program
A Ceredigion-based mead will launch its very first TV advertising campaign.
Afon Mêl will be advertising their mead after benefiting from Sky’s SME100 support program.
The New Quay beverage company is one of 100 small businesses in the UK that have been selected to benefit from the SME100 program. via Sky Connect, Sky’s new B2B telecommunications company.
The family-run Afon Mêl beekeeping farm, which was established in 1995 and offers a variety of raw honey, preserves and mead, will now launch its first television advertising campaign later this year.
The 30-second ad will be produced by The Content Creators based in Swansea and will exclusively reach the company’s target audience.
The announcement will focus on Afon Mêl’s new mead range, helping to increase the visibility of mead as a craft drink.
As a small company located in the heart of West Wales, the pandemic has been a difficult time for the company.

Sky’s SME100 program aims to help small businesses succeed and stay connected to their customers, boosting their recovery as the country emerges from lockdown. The initiative, launched last year, brings Sky’s contribution to more than £ 4.5million in advertising support for small businesses since the start of the pandemic.
The TV campaign is delivered through Sky’s AdSmart, the addressable TV platform that allows brands to advertise on TV with a focus on the audiences that matter to them. This technology means that a brand can reach households by zip code area, a designated distance from their store, or by makeup or lifestyle attributes that best suit their department. By targeting only the audiences that matter to the business, brands like Afon Mêl can be assured that their advertising will be relevant, accessible and drive business results.
