Former Malaysian Prime Minister Najib Razak Seeks Public Relations Help
Former Prime Minister Najib Razak (pictured) has appointed Karv Communications to provide strategic communications and media relations support. According to the document filed with the US Department of Justice seen by INTERACTIVE-MARKETING, this includes any legal action that may arise in the United States. Karv works with Scivetti & Associates, which represents Najib.
Karv will charge $70,000 per month for two months, with full payment of $140,000 due upon signing the agreement. In the event that Karv suspends its Services for any reason, including but not limited to a mistrial, Karv warrants that it will resume the Services, if and when circumstances permit and the parties mutually agree, until December 2022. According to at Politico, Karv will help ensure that “Najib’s actions and opinions are understood by American journalists and presented accurately in all American media coverage.” The appointment comes amid the trial of former Goldman Sachs banker Roger Ng in New York.
Najib was sentenced to 12 years in prison and fined US$49.3 million in 2020 due to his involvement in the 1MDB scandal. He was found guilty by the KL High Court of money laundering, criminal breach of trust and abuse of office. Media reports, including CNBC said Najib allegedly illegally received nearly US$10 million from SRC International, a unit under 1MDB.

From 1992 to 1997, he was politically appointed in the Clinton administration, including Managing Director of the New York Foreign Press Center of the United States Information Agency and Senior Communications Advisor to the Director of USIA at from January 1993.
