Disney Streaming Vet Jessica Casano-Antonellis Joins SiriusXM as Head of Communications – Deadline

Jessica Casano-Antonellis, a former senior executive at Disney who played a key role in the launches of Disney+ and ESPN+, has joined SiriusXM as SVP and Head of Communications.

She reports to marketing director Denise Karkosis and succeeds Patrick Reilly, who is leaving the audio company after a 17-year career.

Casano-Antonellis, who worked for digital video company Vimeo before joining Disney, will oversee strategic communications, brand reputation management and media relations for SiriusXM.

“Jessica is a valued and respected executive who brings extensive strategic communications experience to SiriusXM in the media, entertainment and technology industries,” Karkos said in the official announcement. “She will be an incredible asset to the company and play a key role as we continue to tell SiriusXM’s story as a leader in audio entertainment.”

After beginning her tenure at Disney in 2018, Casano-Antonellis helped launch efforts for ESPN+ that year and Disney+ in 2019. Most recently, she led communications for the entire unit Disney Streaming, overseeing global communications strategies for Disney+ and Hulu.

The senior ranks at Disney, including in corporate communications, have seen some evolution in recent months. Geoff Morrell left after just three months last month, replacing longtime communications chief Zenia Mucha after former Biden administration official Kristina Schake arrived on board as a door- chief word. In the streaming operation, longtime executive Karen Hobson transitioned into an international role several months ago, handing over the national baton to Heather Hust-Rivera.

At Vimeo, Casano-Antonellis oversaw the communications strategy for the video platform, which was acquired by InterActive Corp. by Barry Diller in 2006. IAC spun off Vimeo last year and it is now listed on Nasdaq. Prior to Vimeo, Jessica spent nearly 10 years at PR agency Text100, now Archetype, working with entertainment clients including MTV, Bravo and Weather Channel.

“After more than four fulfilling and fulfilling years as head of communications for The Walt Disney Company’s portfolio of streaming services, I’m excited to begin this next adventure working with Denise, CEO Jennifer Witz, and the rest of SiriusXM’s management team,” Casano said. -Antonellis said. “I am impressed with Jennifer’s vision for the company and look forward to jumping in to champion the company’s narrative as it pushes new boundaries in the audio space.”

Reilly plans to stay on as a consultant until July. “Patrick has been a tireless leader in our public relations and corporate communications since 2004, working to ensure SiriusXM is represented fairly and positively in the marketplace,” Karkos said.
