In order to reactivate the economy of SMEs , the Employers’ Confederation of the Mexican Republic (Coparmex) made an alliance with Santander bank to offer loans with preferential conditions to its associates in Mexico City.

Oak Park Financial can provide fast cash when you need it. If you need a quick infusion of cash, you can use https://oakparkfinancial.com/ and get the money you need in time.

This Tuesday, at a press conference, a plan was announced for the nearly 5,000 associates of Coparmex CDMX to access Santander loans . Credit lines can range from less than 500 thousand pesos to 15 million pesos .

Armando Zúñiga , president of Coparmex CDMX , stressed that this alliance arises as a response to the crisis, so that no more formal jobs are lost. He reported that during the pandemic they registered the closure of some 70,000 micro, small and medium businesses in the capital of the country and 20% of members.

“It has been a difficult year for many sectors that strongly boost employment in Mexico City. I’m talking about restaurants, party halls and schools, which were closed for more than a year, of which we have just over 70 thousand economic units lost , which made us start requests for financing and tax benefits to the government and also private financing “ Zúñiga pointed out.

For his part, Luis Ricardo Álvarez , executive director of the SME Segment in Santander Mexico , explained that these loans will have better conditions . For example, there will be benefits in the commissions for opening the credits, terms of 36 to 60 months to pay and an interest rate up to 300 points lower than those currently offered.

“The average amounts we are looking for could be between 4 and 5 million pesos, but we have a very wide range for all needs,” added the bank manager.

In addition, there will be a specific offer for businesswomen, who represent 20% of the businesses in CDMX, as well as for new entrepreneurs.

Álvarez explained that business owners who meet the following conditions will be able to access the loans:

  • Be a formal MSME affiliated to Coparmex
  • Be registered with the Treasury within a tax regime
  • Have two years of experience in the business

Business owners will be able to request the loans online , and the bank’s response would arrive in about 15 minutes. However, the bank noted that an application can be rejected if the credit will be used to pay other debts.

This plan is in addition to Coparmex’s Conecta platform, which functions as a business incubator to create a job bank in coordination with the Secretariat for Economic Development of the Government of Mexico City.

“We want to help people to progress and we trust that the alliances that we present are necessary and will give impetus to the recovery that we all long for today ,” said the Santander executive.

Members of the authority, who held a regular meeting by teleconference, wondered what the role of the organization might be if a $ 13 million purchase plan from the national railway company Watco was approved by state of South Dakota and was adopted. State officials have said the authority should remain, if only to help serve as an economic development arm for any upgrades Watco wants to make that may require state funding.

“The need is quite widespread,” said Jack Dokken, rail program director for the South Dakota Department of Transportation. “Really, the authority would serve as a vehicle for an operator or a shipper or any group in the rail industry to access low-interest loans that are available through a council of state railways. It would really serve as economic development.

The South Dakota Rail Board, he said, does not provide direct loans to the rail industry, so the MRC Authority would act as an intermediary.

“While you might not be the backer for the railroad, there would still be a great need for your guys to exist,” Dokken said.

The authority includes a representative from five counties – Aurora, Brule, Davison, Lyman and Jones – and currently sublets the operation of the railway line to the Dakota Southern Railway Company on the state-owned line.

If the sale of Watco goes through, this lease is no longer in effect and the authority’s current outstanding loans would no longer be in place.

Watco’s plan calls for a down payment of $ 5 million and payment of the remaining $ 8 million over the next five years with annual payments. The Pittsburg, Kansas-based company has also pledged to invest more than $ 2 million in the line once its purchase is complete.

“We are working on finalizing a purchase agreement and we will work on it fairly quickly,” said Joel Jundt, acting secretary of transport for SDDOT, adding that he said it would likely be before the South Dakota Rail Board in January.

Jundt said Watco had no discussions about extending the line further west than Presho. There are 190 miles of rail line between Mitchell and Kadoka, while the section from Kadoka to Rapid City is cashed in or abandoned but retained with the right to restore rail service.

“I don’t see any expansion, at least in the near future, but Watco should answer for that,” Jundt said.

For Watco’s sale to be finalized, the MRC authority would have to hold a special meeting to sign, but primary power rests with the State Rail Board and Governor Kristi Noem, who would also be required to approve the sale. .

The State Rail Board mainly rejected a first round of proposals in late 2019, including two for the MRC – Rapid City, Pierre and Eastern and Watco. Both were rejected due to the net cost to the state and lack of return on investment, but Watco improved its offer in October and the State Rail Board agreed in principle to a deal with Watco.

Until Wednesday, Jackson County was the most westerly county under MRC authority, but the group approved a county request to leave the MRC because the railway line does not operate in Jackson County.

The authority will not have much source of income after the sale. It currently collects an additional $ 50 per car on behalf of the state and shares lease payments with the state. The MRC expects to have around $ 232,000 at the end of 2020, which the authority said would be enough to support the organization for at least 15 years without a new source of revenue.

The sale of the rail line comes as current operator Dakota Southern reported record activity this fall.

Heath Haden, vice president of operators for Dakota Southern, told the MRC Authority that Dakota Southern has been “extremely busy,” including a record in October with 1,800 full cars.

“Right now we’re on track for between 12,000 and 13,000 loads this year,” said Haden.

Haden said Dakota Southern was on track for 1,300 to 1,400 car loads in November and 1,000 to 1,200 car loads in December.

“It was really good,” he said. “And there is still a lot of grain to move.”

Advocates hope that a key provision in the US bailout will pave the way for President Joe Biden to write off the student loan debt of millions of Americans.

While the $ 1.9 trillion COVID-19 stimulus bill has not wiped out student debt, it has made future student loan forgiveness tax-exempt for the next several years. Now lawyers and some lawmakers are hoping this provision could pave the way for President Biden to write off outstanding student loan debt.

Senate Democrats, led by Senator Elizabeth Warren (D-MA) and Senator Bob Menendez (D-NJ), included the provision in the bill, allowing there to be no tax on student loans canceled until 2025.

“This is a huge win for millions of Americans burdened with student loan debt – NO SURPRISE TAX BILLS on canceled college loans,” Menendez tweeted after his amendment with Warren was passed in the Senate in early March.

When student loans are canceled, usually as part of an income-based repayment plan, they are usually treated as taxable income. Now that the COVID-19 relief bill has been enacted, some hope Biden will expand the pool of people with canceled debt. By some estimates, 45 million borrowers hold $ 1.7 trillion in student debt in America.

Biden has previously expressed support for Congress to eliminate $ 10,000 in personal student loan debt. However, when asked at a CNN town hall in February if he would increase that proposal to $ 50,000, he said he “wouldn’t make it.”

Sen. Chuck Schumer (D-NY) and Rep. Ayanna Pressley (D-MA) have a total of 62 cosponsors supporting a resolution calling on Biden to write off $ 50,000 in student loan debt using existing authority under the Higher Education Law. Biden said he didn’t think he had the power to do it by executive order. Schumer and Warren publicly opposed this assessment.

MIAMI (AP) – A Florida business owner has been convicted of illegally receiving more than $ 2 million in coronavirus relief funds.

A federal jury in Fort Myers has found Casey David Crowther, 35, guilty on Friday of bank fraud, making a false statement to a lending institution and two counts of money laundering, court records show. A sentencing date has not been set.

Crowther applied for a loan last April on behalf of his company, Target Roofing & Sheet Metal, Inc., according to a criminal complaint. Prosecutors said he claimed the funds would only be used for business purposes, such as worker retention and bill payment.

But shortly after receiving the $ 2.1 million cash, Crowther made a series of personal purchases, including nearly $ 690,000 on a 2020 40-foot (12-meter) catamaran, which he owned. registered in his name, according to the complaint. He also paid $ 100,000 to a former business partner.

Crowther covered up the scheme by providing false explanations for the expenses to his bank, prosecutors said. He added several family members to his company’s payroll who didn’t actually do any work and created 39 bogus employees, officials said.

The Paycheque Protection Program represents billions of dollars in repayable small business loans for Americans struggling due to the COVID-19 pandemic. It’s part of the Coronavirus Aid, Relief and Economic Security Act, which became federal law in March.

Workers forced to endure an endless series of meetings on videoconferencing platforms, including Focus on video communications (NASDAQ: ZM) and Microsoft‘s (NASDAQ: MSFT) The teams left tired and exhausted. The problem has been dubbed “Zoom Fatigue”, but until recently it was not clear why this happened. Recent research has uncovered the causes of the phenomenon and what users can do to minimize its impact.

On this clip from Motley Fool Live, registered on February 24, Jason Hall, host of “The Wrap,” and Danny Vena, Fool.com contributor, dig deeper into the research and provide simple steps to help keep the problem at bay.

Jason Hall: Danny Vena, let’s talk about “zoom fatigue”. I think I saw the same article that you may be referring to here.

Danny Vena: It’s something they’ve been talking about for a year now. Essentially, people who spend a lot of time in video conferencing tend to come out tired and fatigued. Now, they’ve done a study, and this study actually addresses some of the reasons it’s happening and what you can do about it. The new study came out of Stanford …

Jason Hall: Are you about to walk us through some Swedish gymnastics and stretching exercises here, maybe some yoga or some spirit …

Danny Vena: No. A little mental gymnastics.

Jason Hall: Understood.

Danny Vena: Stanford University communications expert Jeremy Bailenson looked into the phenomenon, explained the reasons for it, and made four proposals to combat the so-called Zoom fatigue.

The first is that during one-on-one meetings, participants tend to break eye contact and shift their gaze when looking at notes or looking at what’s going on around them. When you join a Zoom meeting or join a Microsoft Teams video conference you tend not to overdo it, there is a dramatic increase in eye contact.

If you exit full screen mode, which you can easily do, this will help you. The faces you are looking at will be smaller and will help minimize the impact.

Secondly, during Zoom meetings, participants tend to spend an inordinate amount of time looking at each other and therefore people tend to be overly critical, they notice every little imperfection. You may remember it Align technology (NASDAQ: ALGN), the company that supplies Invisalign tooth straighteners, has reported a dramatic increase in the number of people wanting to straighten their teeth, what it has dubbed the “Zoom Effect”. To help fight this.

Jason Hall: See them, right here.

Danny Vena: [laughs] Those there. Many videoconferencing platforms will allow you to either hide your own image so as not to see or just downplay your image when you’re not the featured speaker so you can stop staring at yourself.

Thirdly, when you are in a meeting in person, even if you are sitting for a long time, you will notice that people tend to move around, they adjust their seats, get up and walk around, it is not always convenient or easy to do in a Zoom meeting.

Resist the temptation to sit still all the time and sit in the same position and also position your camera further. This way, it will give you the ability to move around a bit while still being visible on your camera.

ultimately, He suggests give yourself an audio-only break. The reason is that a video call is more taxing, producing a higher cognitive load on your brain than a face-to-face conversation. People tend to subconsciously try to interpret nonverbal cues they see as when another person is looking down, or people tend to make exaggerated gestures, like a thumbs-up or a nod.

If you have a longer call, take a few minutes, not only turn off your camera, but also turn away from the screen so you are not constantly staring at people on the screen, and this will give your brain the opportunity to distance itself from interpreting those movements and gestures of other participants, which he believes probably make no sense. in any event.

This article represents the opinion of the author, who may disagree with the “official” recommendation position of a premium Motley Fool consulting service. We are heterogeneous! Questioning an investment thesis – even one of our own – helps us all to think critically about investing and make decisions that help us become smarter, happier, and richer.

A subsidiary of Rubenstein Mortgage Capital (RMC), a private mortgage lending platform, announced the closing of an initial mortgage loan of up to $ 57 million for the acquisition, repositioning and re-letting of 115 Tabor Road, a four story, 465,000 s / f office building in Morris Plains, New Jersey.

The initial financing of the loan provided part of the acquisition cost, allowing the borrower, a subsidiary of Argent Ventures, to acquire 115 Tabor Road from Honeywell International.

Future loan advances are intended to largely cover the costs of repositioning and re-letting the building as a Category A multi-tenant office building.

As part of this transaction, Honeywell leased a significant portion of the property for 11 years. In addition, Global Aerospace recently signed an 11-year 27,000 s / f lease at 115 Tabor Road.

The loan was initiated by Andrew Murray at RMC, the debt investment platform led by Fred Harmeyer at Rubenstein Partners, LP, a vertically integrated real estate investment advisor.

“Even with the ongoing pandemic and market uncertainty, there is still a strong opportunity for alternative lending on high quality transitional office buildings that are well positioned for value enhancement, such as 115 Tabor Road, ”notes Murray. “The location and the fundamentals of the property made this a compelling case for RMC, while our team’s understanding of this regional market and our funding creativity allowed us to offer seamless execution from loan to loan. ‘borrower. ”

The property was initially developed as a custom build in 2007 as the headquarters of pharmaceutical company Pfizer. Due to the acquisition of Pfizer by Johnson & Johnson, the building remained vacant until 2015, when Honeywell purchased the property and completed a full interior renovation.

As the new owner of 115 Tabor Road, Argent Ventures will now oversee the relocation and repositioning of the property as a notable asset in the North New Jersey office market.

115 Tabor Road is located on nearly 40 acres and includes a five-story parking structure with a total of 1,335 spaces. The building offers exceptional amenities to tenants including a cafeteria, auditorium, basketball court and fitness center located on the ground floor. The well-located building is less than two miles from Route 10 in New Jersey and one mile from Morris Plains Station in the Parsippany submarket.

OTTAWA COUNTY, MI – A psychologist in Grand Haven has had his license suspended for at least three years after having sex with a patient, state officials have said.

William Peter Kooistra, 57, was sentenced last year by Grand Haven District Court to 45 days in prison after pleading guilty to a felony charge of attempted criminal sexual behavior in the fourth degree.

He was also ordered to pay nearly $ 10,000 in fines, costs and restitution.

The Board of Psychology’s disciplinary subcommittee approved a consent order and stipulation requiring that Kooistra’s license be suspended for at least three years and that he pay a $ 25,000 fine. He should ask the Psychological Council to reinstate his license.

“Mr. Kooistra is a clear example of an authority figure who took advantage of his position by preying on a vulnerable victim, and he must be held accountable for those actions,” said the state attorney general. , Dana Nessel, in a statement.

The State Department of Licensing and Regulatory Affairs, or LARA, suspended Kooistra’s license in March when he was initially charged with fourth degree criminal and sexual conduct.

According to the statement, Kooistra had his own practice in Grand Haven when, in 2014, he began treating a patient “under the guise of ‘body work therapy’, and had sex with the patient.”

The patient ended therapy in 2018 and filed a report with the Grand Haven Department of Public Safety, authorities said.

Last week, the House of Representatives passed the Pregnant Workers Fairness Act (PWFA) (HR 2694), which could have major implications for businesses nationwide. If enacted, the PWFA would require most employers to provide reasonable accommodations to pregnant employees along the lines of what is required for employees with disabilities under the United States Disability Act.

According to research by the House Committee on Education and Labor, 62% of female workers have witnessed pregnancy-related discrimination at work, which can take the form of “job loss, being denied reasonable accommodation or not being hired.” in the first place “. This discrimination can be particularly damaging for black and Latino employees, “who are overrepresented in low-paying and physically demanding jobs,” a harsh reality that intensifies during the COVID-19 pandemic as pregnant women “who contracting the virus are more likely than non-pregnant women to be hospitalized.

While federal laws, including the Pregnancy Discrimination Act and the American with Disabilities Act, protect pregnant employees from certain forms of discrimination, the House passed the PWFA because “There is currently no federal law that explicitly and affirmatively guarantees all pregnant workers the right to reasonable accommodation so that they can continue to work without endangering their pregnancy.”

If it becomes law, the PWFA will provide that:

  • Private sector employers with more than 15 employees, as well as public sector employers, should make reasonable accommodations for pregnant workers and job seekers as long as the accommodation does not impose undue hardship on the employer. ;
  • Pregnant employees cannot be retaliated against for requesting reasonable accommodation and may not be denied employment opportunities, nor be required to take time off if other reasonable accommodation is available; and
  • available remedies would include lost wages, compensatory damages and attorney fees

Hundreds of organizations, including business, civil rights groups, and employment and labor organizations have endorsed the PWFA. The next stop is the Senate, where the bill has been referred to the Committee on Health, Education, Work and Pensions. The intersection between pregnancy and discrimination on the basis of disability, including reasonable accommodation for employees who may be available, will continue to be a key area of labor law to watch.

Lacretia Wimbley, President of the Pittsburgh Newspaper Guild and Pittsburgh Post-Gazette Last minute reporter poses for a portrait in downtown Pittsburgh.

Lacretia Wimbley is the first black person to be president of the Newspaper Guild of Pittsburgh, the union representing journalists at the Pittsburgh Post-Gazette. His term as head of the union will last until October 31, 2021.

Getting to the post has not been an easy task, after the results of the initial November 2020 elections were challenged due to irregularities in the postal ballots. Eventually, Wimbley had to be declared guild president twice after a second election. During this election, the other two candidates declined their candidacies. But a difficult start to his mandate did not discourage his passion for the union and for reporting.

Wimbley is not originally from Pittsburgh and moved here for an internship after graduating from Mississippi State University. She describes herself as a “science geek” who first went to college to study biological sciences and pre-medicine. She didn’t have a lot of scholarships in school, and so she had a lot of loans and scholarships to pay for her education, but when it became difficult to get funding, she took a leave of absence during her second year and worked two jobs paying tuition out of pocket.

“I went back to school after that,” says Wimbley, who works as a breaking news reporter for the Post-Gazette. “The experience of working hard to pay for someone myself has made a difference. It’s not that I wasn’t serious about my upbringing before, but I was definitely more intentional about my passions.

After confronting these passions, Wimbley changed her specialization to communications journalism with the help of her mother. Wimbley has always been a writer and her mother encouraged her to pursue this opportunity. In college, she also made history as the first black editor of the independent student-run newspaper.

“I came to a time where I was like, ‘Oh, congratulations on that. You’ll be the last editor if we don’t make enough money to at least break even this year. So it was stressful, ”says Wimbley. The student newspaper made enough money to last the whole year and is still going strong years after Wimbley’s graduation.

Being the first black person to hold a position may not be new to Wimbley, but positions carry personal weight, especially as a black female union president. Wimbley can understand why taking on this role might be considered inspirational to some, but there is more to her than that.

“I think there is a lot to be said about me as a black woman running for the head of a large labor organization in southwestern Pennsylvania where traditionally white men run these organizations, you know. ? ” she says.

Wimbley pointed out that while she believes that being in this position would allow other black and minority women to see themselves in similar roles, there must also be a passion for the job. “This job is not easy,” she adds. Having only been president for a little over a month, she is still adjusting to her responsibilities and her environment. The job has been a “mountain,” especially with its controversial beginnings, but she has continued to push forward and not let the past define her.

Wimbley says she entered the role with fresh ideas and unwavering optimism, even in the face of controversies at the Post-Gazette, including the newspaper’s management banning black journalists Alexis Johnson and Michael Santiago from reporting on last year’s Black Lives Matter protests. In an interview with the New Pittsburgh Courier, Wimbley said that the legacy of Post-Gazette is “hanging on the scales”. She still feels like that. The guild did not renew its contract with the Post-Gazette since 2017, when their collective agreement (CBA) last expired.

Wimbley’s goal, despite persistent difficulties at Post-Gazette, which includes the resignation of the former press guild chairman over allegations of sexual misconduct, is to focus on the union and let the newspaper’s management work to mend its legacy. “I would say my role is to help restore a new atmosphere within our union and among our members,” she says. “And I see my role as continuing to move us forward as a union. ”

The appearance of the coronavirus has changed the landscape of his work as a journalist. As a last-minute reporter, Wimbley would often rush to the scene or listen to his police scanner to see where the action was taking place. Now things are a bit calmer. This quiet time gave Wimbley a chance to reflect on what she would like to see from the Pittsburgh media. She says she would like the media to be more intentional about how they report, especially about crime in minority neighborhoods. She says the people who are victims or alleged perpetrators of crimes in these communities often only become statistics.

“One thing I’ve tried to be intentional about in my own reporting is putting personality and putting a face on the people involved in these cases,” says Wimbley. The job, for her, is to tell the human stories of these people.

“It speaks volumes about the importance of having diverse voices and people of color in the newsroom, more people of color in newsrooms and in the media. It speaks in Pittsburgh, but it speaks pretty much anywhere. The beauty of having diverse voices is not only having a symbolic black person or symbolic person of color in your workplace, but it is also so that your product can be more enriched, more fulfilled.

Part of that accomplishment, for Wimbley personally, is engaging in the arts. She writes poetry and plays guitar in her spare time and, weather permitting, can be seen playing at Point State Park.
