MARIETTA – A longtime tri-state broadcaster and media personality has joined Par Mar Stores, the region’s fastest growing convenience store and quick service restaurant chain.
Dave Allen has been appointed director of community relations for the Marietta-based company.
“We are very proud that Dave chose to join us” said Par Mar president Brian Waugh. “Dave’s experience in broadcasting as well as state government and public relations and promotions will serve him well in this role. “
Allen also said he was excited to join the company.
“I am delighted to join Par Mar at this time in growing the business and I am grateful to Brian and his team for allowing me to play a role in this expansion” Allen said. “I’m especially excited to be able to extend Par Mar’s already strong ties with every local community we serve, supporting vital local initiatives and helping our charitable efforts. These already include our Par Mar scholarship program, which awards tens of thousands of dollars to deserving high school students, our Wednesday Wish Day vacation program, our support for the Children’s Home Society, and more. Par Mar truly strives to be a strong partner in every community we are in, and we look forward to doing even more to support the big cities and small towns that support us.
Allen is originally from Logan County, Virginia, and attended Southern West Virginia Community and Technical College. He graduated from Marshall University in Huntington.
He has over three decades of broadcasting experience, including 20 years as a morning announcer on WVOW radio in Logan. Allen welcomes the popular “580 live” 9 a.m. to 10 a.m. talk radio weekdays on WCHS Radio in Charleston.
Allen will continue to host “580 live” in addition to his duties at Par Mar.
He is a former Field Representative and Director of Corporate Outreach for the Secretary of State for West Virginia and headed Dave Allen Communications, a Putnam County-based communications and promotion company, W.Va.
He served as president of the Rotary International chapters in Logan and Putnam counties, was appointed Distinguished West Virginian by former Governor Bob Wise, and is president of the Putnam County Convention and Visitors Bureau.
Allen and his wife Ruth Ann, executive at Encova Insurance, resident in Teays Valley, W.Va.
The Marietta-based Par Mar company, named Parkersburg and Marietta, started with just three employees under the Par Mar Oil Co. name in 1967. Today the company operates 166 stores in four states, Virginia- Western, Ohio, Pennsylvania and Kentucky, with over 2,000 employees.
