Australian Government launches new campaign for Carers Gateway via The Monkeys – Campaign Brief

The Australian government has launched a new national advertising campaign for Carer Gateway via The Monkeys, part of Accenture Song.

The campaign aims to increase awareness of Carer Gateway’s services and supports and to encourage unpaid carers to use the phone line and website to access these supports.

Carer Gateway is a free support program for Australia’s 2.65 million unpaid carers, many of whom are unaware that dedicated support is available to help them in their caring role.

Caring for others can be rewarding but challenging, and it’s important for caregivers to know that personalized support is available and easily accessible in person, online or by phone.

Informal carers make a significant contribution to the health and well-being of Australians who need support and assistance. While many caregivers report positive experiences, such as a sense of satisfaction and relief knowing their loved ones are being appropriately cared for, many find that caregiving has its challenges.

By focusing on the real experience of carers, the campaign showcases the struggle, sacrifice, effort, reward and joy that carers face every day.

This powerful campaign raises a very important question: if you are caring for a loved one, who is caring for you?

With the slogan “Help for those who might never ask”, the campaign recognizes that many people do not always identify as helpers, and for those who do, they do not always feel like they be able to ask for the support they need.

Many people can become unpaid carers at some point in their lives, even temporarily – it’s usually not something that’s planned, it can just happen. When and if that time comes, people need to know where to go for help.

Further information on available services and supports can be found on the Carer Gateway website.
